THE ADMINS FAMILY A Family of Private Sites
on MyFamily.com
If you are not a member,
it is easy to join! Find out more below!
The Admins Family is a group of private sites,
set up by administrators of MyFamily.com sites, for the purpose of sharing
ideas, solving problems, getting help with their sites, and supporting
each other. Over 800 admins are members, and we get over 200 posts per
day. The emphasis is on learning from each other, being positive, and
having fun. We've also created a read-only Archive site for all the great
hints, tips and content that we've collected, for you to browse, copy, and take
back to your own sites.
If you're an Administrator of a site on
MyFamily.com and would like to join, we'll need to know your FIRST and
LAST NAME and GENDER (required fields on the invitation form),
and whether you are an administrator of a MyFamily site. Send your
information in an e-mail to
SiteAdminSite@myfamily.com, and we'll send you invitations to
our Front Room, Den, and Archive sites. Once you join, it's best to have
all three merged with Universal Login, because they are extensively
cross-referenced.
While the private Administrator sites have been
open since October 2000 and are ready for your participation, our
public presence here is brand new. Look for updates to this
page and links to other pages for more details about our sites.

websites (free, and premium) provided by MyFamily.com. They're a great way
to stay in touch!
This gathering place was created mainly so that administrators of
MyFamily sites could have an interactive forum to share information on
getting the most out of the MyFamily service, to make their sites as
successful as possible. For over a year, we have been sharing and
collecting hundreds of tips, tricks, graphics, music, poems, jokes, and
stories to entertain your members and keep them coming back for more. We
have also saved many of our own creations, as we've learned the mysteries
of HTML and the ability to combine graphics and formatted text to compose
beautiful posts and front page banners. The majority of this material has
been moved over to our Archive site, to which you can also receive an
invitation. All these are free for the taking, to copy and post on your
own sites.
In addition to taking from these sites for your own sites, we encourage
you to actively participate. If you have a problem or question, please
ask. If you know an answer, please share. If you have material to
contribute, please post. We know that frustration and disappointment can
be an admin's lot in life. You will find that everyone here is eager to
help, and ready to support each other, in good times as well as bad. Along
the way, we have become family here.
Before you begin browsing the sites, please review our Purpose and
Ground Rules, so that your experience can be as pleasant as possible
for yourself and the other 800+ members. There are only a few admins
moderating the site, and they are very busy reviewing new posts and
archiving and organizing new material, as well as answering questions, so anything you can do to keep
things positive and stay within the bounds of the site rules is very much
appreciated. Thank you.
We wish you happy browsing here, and great success with your
site!
The sites' main purpose is to serve as an organized collection of tips,
hints and content for a successful MyFamily site, for Site Admins to
browse and adopt for their own sites.
The site is also used to hold discussions among Site Admins (Chat or
News), share files and e-mail addresses, demonstrate special features, or
exchange genealogical information.
The sites ARE NOT FOR COMPLAINING about the MyFamily design or
services, nor for proposing changes to MyFamily.com, nor for posting
messages regarding technical problems that are occurring on the sites.
Those messages should continue to be posted on the Boards where they are
more likely to be seen by MyFamily.com.
How To Use This Site
The History section has been set aside for tips. To make
information easy for others to locate, please be sure to assign posted
tips to one or more of the pre-established categories. That way, others
can search the History section by category and find what they need.
The News area is open for general messaging between Site Admins.
The Reviews area is for reviews of websites, or of products and
services that are available to the majority of members.
If you have any ideas for using the other sections of the site, post a
News item to start a discussion, or leave a message in our Guest Book.
Below are the MyFamily.com Message Board rules, adapted for this site:
Any Site Administrator is welcome to use this site. We
encourage you to read the following rules in order to make your experience
the best possible, as well as to ensure a worthwhile and positive
environment for all site users. Please use these rules in coordination
with common sense, respect, and good manners. Thank you, and enjoy the
site!
1. Value the power of words. To ensure that the site is a
comfortable place in which to communicate and express thoughts, we do not
allow obscene, harassing, racist or sexually explicit, defamatory or
violent, hateful or insulting language. We reserve the right to remove any
postings (or members) that we deem to be inappropriate.
2. No
solicitations, advertisements, or copyright violations are allowed. We do
not permit the posting of advertisements or solicitations. We also do not
permit the posting of articles, recipes, song lyrics, art or graphics for
which you do not have express written consent of the copyright holder. And
again, we reserve the right to remove any postings.
3. Do not
discuss, encourage, or take part in illegal activity. Any comments or
postings that might be construed as illegal activity will be removed.
Additionally, you are not allowed to post viruses or other destructive or
expropriating content.
4. Respect the privacy of individuals. This
means no posting of phone numbers, addresses, social security numbers or
any other private information. Additionally, you cannot harvest names
and/or email addresses from the site. We do not allow spamming.
5.
Use good manners. We promote a healthy and interested exchange of
opinions, under the understanding that these opinions will be expressed
respectfully. Therefore, please do not post the same note more than once
and do not use all capital letters (which in e-speak translates as anger).
Also, only post messages that are in line with the purpose of the site.
And since our site is only in English, please only post in English.
6. Participate at your own risk. You're responsible for your
postings, and we strongly suggest that you protect your privacy by not
ever giving out your password, telephone number, address, etc. Use the
information provided in the site at your own risk.
7. Object to
postings that you feel do not follow these Rules. Any assistance that you
can give us in helping to monitor the site is greatly appreciated. So if
you ever come across a posting which you feel violates any of these Rules,
please send an e-mail to
Admins@adminfamily.com.
Let's do our best to remain
positive, and to help everyone else do the same. Many of you on the
message boards have wished for such a site. Now that we have one, let's
protect it.
